On August 24th and 25th 2013 another PferdeStark will be on, with an established concept at a new venue.

After the definite cancellation on the part of the LWL-Open-Air Museum Detmold, the North Rhine-Westphalian association of the IGZ, which has been co-promoter of the PferdeStark in Detmold for many years, has found a new partner for the continuation of this internationally renowned event: Castle & Domain Wendlinghausen.

The new venue of Wendlinghausen which is part of the borough of Dörentrup is situated only a few miles off Detmold and offers an excellent framework and almost all possibilities you have come to appreciate in the museum in Detmold. The Wendlinghausen team is quite adept at hosting events and many of the necessary facilities are already available. The local authorities in charge have given the go-ahead for this major event.

The domain of Wendlinghausen, where the greater part of the event will take place, is an ecologically cultivated farm with 350 hectare of agricultural land and 100 hectare of forest. A solar power plant and a digester supply the “village of energy Wendlinghausen” – a new adjoining residential area – with heating and electrical power.

In Wendlinghausen, workhorses have recently only been employed in the forest, but the conceptions of the landlord Joachim von Reden excellently go with the topic of the PferdeStark and have quite a lot in common with the ideas of the IGZ.

Visitors may look forward to an event taking up a well-known and established concept: agricultural and silvicultural demonstrations with state-of-the-art technology for horses, several competitions and spectacular performances – the „PferdeStark“ will live up to its name!

And there will be a special highlight. In 2011 it could not take place for reasons known, but in 2013 it will be realized: the hosting of the European Horse Logging Championship!
